We have travelled from Buk in Hungary, through Graz and Thal to the southern end of Austria and into Alps territory again. Today we crossed the border once more into Slovania and to the
picturesque town of Bled. The town is located around a lake with rugged mountains surrounding it. In fact, the tallest mountain in Slovenia is not far from the town. Bled also has a castle and is a tourist Mecca with masses of hotels, accommodations and camping grounds surrounding the lake. There is very limited parking in the town where everyone seems to walk or ride bikes. The roads are very narrow and are shared by cars, walkers and cyclists.
We have our accommodation in an apartment in a traditional Slovenian house about a 30 minute walk from the town through farmland. Our outlook is very scenic looking over mountains with still small spots of snow.
Our apartment is on the top floor.
Views from our apartment
Castle in Bled on top of a rocky outcrop next to the lake
View from our apartment of nearby village
Farmland we passed walking to town
Our drive around the lake - couldn't stop because there was no parking
The road back to our apartment. Signs with a line through them indicate you are leaving the town.
The toll road to Slovenia to pay for the 7 km tunnel
