Zurich from the tower of the Grossmunster

The Grossmunster is one of Zurich's famous medieval churches. It has 12 stained glass windows by Sigmar Polke that represent cross sections of semi-precious stones and a colour saturated stain glass window by Augusto Giacometti, nephew of Antonio. No photography was allowed inside the church. We scaled the 185 steps to the top of the steeple to get a panoramic view of Zurich.

The merry-go-round is one of six or more along the riverfront for the Zurich Festival. The medieval church is the Fraumunster on the opposite side of the river and has stained glass windows by Chagall.
