We have dined on Franconian sausage, sauerkraut, vegetarian German dumplings and Wiener schnitzel, washing them down with German Pilsner beer. In Rothenburg, we tasted the local sweet delicacy called a Schneeball. Most of the bakeries stock them in a huge range of flavours. Basically, it is biscuit pastry made in a long strip, sprinkled with icing sugar, and bundled together into a balls much like a loose ball of string.
