Zurich Party on a Rainy Day

The second day of the Zurich Festival dampened spirits with heavy rain. While the revellers continued throughout the night celebrating European football and the Zurich Festival, especially in our street, the morning arrived with the predicted rain and quietness.
We ventured out when the rain eased to showers and made our way down to the lake. Every square or public area that we passed was filled with make shift food stands, carnival rides and remnants of the night before. However, Zurich is a clean city and in the earlier morning hours, street sweepers were moving up and down streets cleaning the city of the rubbish left behind from the night before.
Around Lake Zurich, streets were closed to traffic and people moved about fairly easily despite the downpour of rain but by lunchtime it became very crowded.

Multicultural food fairs lined the lake and one looked somewhat familiar although not quite right.

While others had a more Swiss feel about them.
The amazing architecture was often marred by food fairs and amusements vans in front, despite some of them being rather bizarre.
